No party ever got majority in Jharkhand

There are 81 members in the Jharkhand Assembly overall. 41 seats are the magic number needed to form a majority in the 81-member House. Despite its apparent smallness, this figure represents a huge for all the parties running in Jharkhand’s election season. Till now, no party has been able to reach this number, at least not in the four assembly elections.   • With five counting rounds remaining, Congressman Kumar Jaimangal is ahead by more than 17,500 votes in Bermo after receiving more than 62,300 votes. Following him is Ravindra Kumar Pandey of the BJP. Having received over 36,000 votes, Mahato is in third place to win the seat.
  • In the Gandey Assembly constituency, Kalpana, the wife of Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and a JMM candidate, is more than 3,100 votes behind him.
